Hi all... Have been doing a bit here and a bit there recently, since my last update.
Just been out to a good friends house for dinner - she promised me a very healthy meal (is strict vegetarian) and asked if I could bring dessert.. umm.. yeah, that kills all the goodness in the veges! Managed to find some frozen yoghurt with a Pams Fruit of the Forrest bake thingy - cheapest thing at the supermarket, but boy it was yummy! The packet says it does 11 servings... LOL, umm.. we got four out of it!
Three weeks ago, I went to Adelaide, Australia to celebrate the wedding of a friend of a friend (who I was with) and caught up with Marc, Jude's son (last time I saw Marc was at her funeral three years ago). Then went to Sydney for two days, over did it, and then came home and collapsed again with the flu, asthma etc. Am fed up with getting sick, but as I had the flu injection before going to Aust. I was hoping it wouldn't be so bad ... now, three weeks on, I still have a cough and am 'getting over it'. Blah.. Might go back to the Naturapath, but that costs $$$, so am just taking the meds I had from last year. A friend has suggested that I take some 'Goldenseal' so I need to look into what that stuff is, and what it should do, and what side affects/reactions it would have. This is the sixth time I have been ill this year (I keep a track in my diary) and usually it doesn't last this long - so I am not too happy about the pattern that is emerging, ie. more time unwell than well.
A shop that I like here (K&K) has had a 50-70% off sale, so did some retail therapy last night - a jacket, a top, and two office trousers/pants that go with the jacket... for $179 all up. Not bad :) I was very happy - and its nice to wear clothes that actually fit me for a change, and not just jerseys that I have been wearing lately. A lot of my 'big' clothes have come from a friend that lost weight, so its also nice to have some new clothes :) Now to get them shortened, and to go thru. my wardrobe and to see what I have that I can wear.. have sizes 10/12 up to 24 in there, so have to do a major sort out. Just trying to remember the last time I went clothes shopping for myself - I got myself a pair of shoes last August.. and thats about it, so yeah, it was a treat.
I rang my Doctor today to find out about the 'Green prescription' and he was very very happy to send me the form - basically its a prescription to do exercise - but the script registers you with a support team that helps out and the idea is that you meet with them, and then report back to them on a regular basis, I think - best of all, its pretty much free .. a few dollars at the most if you want to do certain classes/activities. No harm, I thought, so will see what happens. I would really like to be able to get my weight down, as this probably is affecting my health more than I realise. Fatty tissue surrounding the heart / lungs / organs can't be healthy!
Am going to work tomorrow (Saturday) with the sole reason of 'catchup' - I have been so busy lately that I have become very behind, and the 'important' stuff has given way to the 'urgent' stuff .. this week was supposed to be a quiet catchup week, but ended up being really horrible, with clients walking in (to do wills etc.) and a settlement that wasn't as easy as it should have been, and several looooong 'free' telephone calls to prospective clients - so I couldn't really catch up at all. So I told the boss that I'd like a day without telephones, without interuptions to do all this stuff - and we agreed that I'd take a day off another time instead. However next week is looking very very busy, so I am thinking do I 'catch up' or do I do stuff for next week.. hmm.. might have to do a bit of both. Especially as we had a call from a client at 5.30 pm, saying that he had signed a contract to buy a house - with settlement Monday. Luckily for him, he has the cash to do so, and isn't taking out a Mortgage. Yup, working under pressure! Will tell him that it will be the usual fee (boss doesn't want to charge more) but also a bottle of wine or a box of choccies or something.. hmm.. can imagine how the bill would go... To our Fee $$ to Extra attendances on being of an urgent nature $Bottle of champagne.. to Extra stress caused to Legal Executive $chocolates.. and lots of them. Or failing that, Hot Roasted Macadamia nuts :D I am not picky either way ;)
Also have a committee meeting tomorrow for the Christian Fellowship for Disabled - we are doing an 'op shop ball' in September. One guy on the committee refuses to come if its secular music - so we said we'd do christian music - but now the committee leader thinks that might put people off coming - anyway, will sort it all tomorrow. She wants to get a real band (hellloooo.. a) who? and b) we can't afford it! all our events are run at a loss!!) or at least a real D.J.. we are only charging people $5.00 at the door, so I really don't see how this is going to work.
Have also booked myself into a seminar with the money wise people (thanks for the suggestion, Geoff and Tash!) for Friday fortnight - should be good, and I am looking forward to seeing what they have to say :)
So there ya have it.. a brief update in a nutshell :) Life is all on up here ! Hope you all are well, healthy and happy :D
